Tommie Sjef Grape 2020 - 75 CL

Our classic. A wild beer refermented with red wine grapes. Almost every year the brewers release a new vintage. This year the brewers took a different approach when making Grape. We started with a blend of older beers (about 2 years in barrel), refermented with Kékfrankos grapes, and aged for quite some time in our oldest foudre. Before bottling, the brewers blended this base with spontaneously fermented wine from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that the brewers created in 2018 and aged in smaller burgundy barrels. Grape 2020 has notes of elderflower, blackberry and light strawberry, but also a hint of creamy oak and a bit of earthiness. Taste-wise it has a really balanced wine-like acidity, good fruitiness and lots of spice/earthyness with a bit of funk.
