Lambic is one of the oldest beers in the world. According to some, it is also the best, even if the characteristic acidity does not please all taste buds. To compensate for this acidity, some decided to add sugar. Thus Faro was born. Adding sugar syrup to lambic was a revelation in Bruegel's time. (Some even argue that without faro, Bruegel would have had no inspiration and would have remained an ordinary amateur painter whose canvases could not even have been sold at a flea market.)
